This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
Hi there, I came across your gallery, and was wondering, might you be related to Richard Nicoll? haha, of course, your work is fantastic, I adore your sketches - it's something I wish I was able to do. Also, I noticed one of your paintings had a caption saying you did it during a foundation course in the chelsea college of art in London, and it is my dream to study there (I'm applying for next year). I just wanted to know, how much of your work was done for the foundation year/for A levels or portfolio stuff? It would be very helpful to me to see what sort of standard I have to be at.
Hi Lara, No relation to any Richard Nicolls as far as I know - perhaps via a distant branch in the family tree, but who knows?
It's just those two life paintings early in my gallery I did in my foundation year, and the painting of the Holloway Odeon which was for my A-level mock exam.
I wouldn't worry about 'standards' though – just focus on doing what you want to be doing. The main thing is that you enjoy being creative and having ideas, and that you have work to show to show and discuss at the interview.
At a certain point I decided what I really wanted to do was to learn to draw well, for communicating my ideas. These days that's not particularly common, and although art colleges pay lip-service to drawing, it's not focused on with anywhere near as much rigour as you might expect.
The truth is, if you want to develop a high standard of drawing it's all down to you. Keep sketchpads and draw every day, join life classes, study in museums and look at the work of the artists you most admire (especially the masters). In fact, the internet is an excellent place to find a tutor to help guide you in that respect (eg. art forums such as conceptart.org)
